First Day of School Procedures

Dear Parents,

Thank you for choosing CMIT Elementary School. We are excited for our Tech Savy Tigers to Power Up and Learn. During teacher pre-planning, we collaborated and created efficient procedures that we felt will keep our students safe. Please follow the instructions that are written below so we can have a safe and orderly day.

Our front office staff will be engaged with our Drop off Procedures so they will not be able to handle any paper work until after 10:00 a.m on the first day of school. You are more than welcomed to come in after 10:00 a.m., and they will address your needs or concerns.

No parents will be allowed to walk their child to class on the first day of school. Our staff will escort students to their proper destination. We are expecting our students to R.O.A.R. (Respect Others, Opt to be Scholarly, Act Responsibly, and React with Kindness) on the first day of school. Students will practice expectations and routines for the first two weeks of school. Students will be rewarded daily through Class Dojo for ROARING. If you have not signed up on Class Dojo, please contact your child’s teacher for directions.

Please remember to label your child’s belongings. We want to make sure your child’s belongings remain with him or her.

PICKUP AND DROP PROCEDURES

Car Riders:

Drop Off: Enter the second entrance and drive around to the cafeteria in the back of the school. Wait for a staff member to open the door to escort your child into the building. Exit towards the first entrance on Chevy Chase Dr.

Pick Up: Enter the second entrance and drive around to the cafeteria in the back of the school. Have your child’s assigned number visible in the dashboard. Wait patiently in line for your scholar to be escorted to your car. Exit towards the first entrance on Chevy Chase Dr.

Bus/Van:

Drop Off: Drivers will drive around the cul de sac on Chevy Chase Dr. and park at the pick-up and drop off sign. Your child will be escorted into the building by a staff member. Drivers will exit immediately after your child is safely off the bus.

Pick Up: Your child will be escorted out of the Kindergarten exit to walk on the sidewalk to the pick-up /drop-off steps. Drivers will receive your child on Chevy Chase Drive. After your child is safely on the bus, driver must leave immediately exit down Chevy Chase Drive.
