First Lego League 2nd Place WIN by CMIT Elementary RoboTigers Team!
CMIT Elementary RoboTigers Team with their families
There is an international competition for students in fourth through eighth grades called For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Lego League or FIRST Lego League, in which teams research real-world problems and develop solutions. The solutions must include the building and programming of a robot to participate in a tabletop competition. More than 32,000 teams from 88 countries participate, according to the FIRST LEGO League website
Throughout the 2017-18 season, our CMIT Elementary FIRST LEGO League teams have been tackling a hydrodynamics challenge. In fact, the team’s Coach, Mr. Inci, along with the seven-member student team worked every week on both Mondays and Saturdays since September building their robot.
Consisting of 4th and 5th-grade students, the CMIT Elementary team had a tough competition with eighteen total elementary and middle school teams in this past weekend’s competition.
Anytime a tech competition is held there is the potential for error: batteries, wiring, loose parts, etc. Things do not always go as practiced. However, sometimes things do go exactly as practiced, or very close to that goal.
Please join us in congratulating the CMIT Elementary FIRST LEGO League Tigers as they WON 2ndPLACE in the ROBOT PERFORMANCE category!
The robot’s official name is “CMIT Tigers” and pays homage to all the team members and minds that went into the collective effort.
Congratulations to all at CMIT Elementary, to the FIRST LEGO LEAGUE CMIT Tiger Team, and a special THANK YOU to Principal Ozturk, Coach Inci, and all our volunteers & parents that make these student activities possible!
See you all next year & please encourage more students to participate in next year’s FLL program & competitions!
